Description:
It is written that the flat cap originated in England in the early 1570s. Initially called a "scull cap" or "bonnet," it was made from wool, tweed, or cotton. Over time, it became associated with working-class men in both rural and urban settings. By the late 1800s, the flat cap became a staple in the working-class wardrobe, particularly in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Favored by factory workers, laborers, and farmers for its practicality and durability, it was also worn by many English schoolboys, which is why it became known as the newsboy cap in the U.S. around the turn of the 20th century.
In the 60s and 70s, Black Americans helped redefine the cap, adding bold color variations and pushing the silhouette. It was then commonly referred to as the Applejack cap. The hat also became a staple in Japanese fashion and culture, embraced for its timeless appeal, practicality, and cultural significance. Most recently, the cap was popularized by the Peaky Blinders TV show, which sparked a resurgence in its popularity.
Now, we’ve added a snapback to this classic silhouette, blending history with a fresh, modern edge. We've modified the fit to tailor it to our personal vision. A nod to tradition, and now with a twist that’s uniquely ours—and can now be yours.
